Peter
methodically distanced himself from his competition on the
run during the 2003 Hawaii Ironman World Championships on
his way to securing his third World Championship.

Getting out
of the water in 50:36 and then keeping the "Reid chase pack"
honest all day, Peter was a marked man throughout the 112
miles. No one was willing to let him break from the pack and
they remained content to mark his every move. This resulted
in Peter getting off the bike with the world... (maybe 12-15
guys) With his trademark running style, arms high and
running off the balls of his feet you knew he was going to
smack out a great run that day.

Peter played
Pac-Man early to put himself in a position to duke it out
for the lead before he left Dodge (Kona). Just before the
run hits the Queen K heading out of town Peter took the the
lead... a lead that he would never relinquish. Putting
together a 2:47 marathon left the closest competitor some
five plus minutes to the rear. Peter and brought this puppy
home in 8:22 clocking with the fastest run of the day!
Can we say "Three - Pete."
