Some stuff about me: |
Originally an Olympic distance
triathlete, I tried with little success
at doing well with the draft-style of
triathlon racing. I always seemed to
enjoy and do best in races which
included challenging bike courses,
particularly those that were non-draft
legal. In 2005 I decided to take the
inevitable leap of trying my hand at
Ironman distance racing. Despite my
first attempt at IMCanada ended with a
DNF, my instincts told me that this was
my kind of racing. When I learned in
June 2006 that Peter was retiring, I
fired him off an email asking if he
could help give me direction with my
training. I knew there was a risk of
him telling me to bugger off,
particularly given our history, when our
last meeting involved me drafting off
him for the entire bike course
(draft-legal bike), not offering to do
any work myself (what can I say,…the man
is a machine on the bike, and I was just
barely hanging on!!!). To say the
least, I recall that he was NOT very
pleased with me at the time.
Well, luck would have it, that Peter
being the class act he is agreed to help
me out, which quickly evolved into
structured coaching. For this, I am
grateful to personally benefit from his
seemingly infinite wealth of knowledge
and honed training and racing
instincts. His guidance completely
brought my training back on track, which
not only improved my race performance
consistency, but it also helped to
enhance my overall enjoyment of other
elements in my life. I couldn’t be more
thankful. I’m more excited than ever to
see what 2007 brings.
