Anders Christofferson (AC), 21 and Randy
Christofferson (RC), 50 are a father and son
triathlon team whom both started working with
PRPP this year. AC has been in triathlon for
two years and is a two-time Ironman finisher.
RC is in his sixth season and is a three-time
Ironman. Their “A” race this season is Ironman
Florida in November.
AC is working with Paul Cross and RC with Pete
Reid. Both began working closely with their
PRPP coaches at the beginning of the year with
an integrated approach to training, nutrition
and racing. After a three-month base period,
both began racing in April.
RC started the season with a first place AG
finish at the Angels’ triathlon and a second
place at the Kinetic sprint. AC also finished
second in his AG at Kinetic in his first race of
the year. Next up was the White Lake
Half-Ironman where the objective was to qualify
for Team USA. RC lowered his half-Ironman PR by
over 15 minutes to win his AG by 7:30 in a time
of 4:43. AC dropped over 30 minutes off his
half PB and also made Team USA. Both AC and RC
set half-marathon PRs each running faster than
they ever had even in open road half-marathons.
Two weeks latter AC and RC went 2nd
and 3rd overall (and won their AGs)
in New Jersey’s Metroman, also winning the
parent/child division. Both set 5k personal
bests in the process.
At Eagleman70.3 AC lowered his Half-Ironman PR
again, this time to 4:39 and RC lowered his
Eagleman course best by 12 minutes with a 4:46.
A week latter at St. Andrew’s sprint triathlon,
RC lowered his course best by almost two minutes
to record his fourth AG win of the season. On
July 1st, AC finished 7th
overall at Avalon’s Islandman and easily
recorded his 2nd AG win of the year.
Next up is the ITU Long-Course World
Championship on July 15th at Lorient,
France where the father and son team will be
racing against the world for Team USA.
Timberman70.3 is just over the horizon. |
