October 18,
2006:
Another great
day in Hawaii!
We made our way
to Lava Java
again this
morning for our
morning coffee
and muffin - my
favourite. As
Clint, myself
and Peter Han
sat down we each
ended up talking
to different
people.
I was having a
long
conversation
with a friend of
Norman Stadler
who didn't like
what I had to
say about his
chances in the
Triathlete
article I did
about my race
day predictions.
He might be
right and I
might be wrong.
I remember a few
years ago that
Dave Scott had a
pre-race
prediction that
I could not win
because I was
not a fast
enough runner.
I was so upset
about Dave's
comments - it
fueled me for
the marathon. I
ended up having
one of the
fastest run's of
the day and
winning. After
that race I had
a chat with Dave
and thanked
him.
I guess while I
was having the
chat I missed
crossing paths
with little
Heater (Heather
Fuhr - I was at
a race in Chile
a few years ago
with Heather and
they kept
calling her
'heater"). I
thought it was a
great nickname
because she sure
can HEAT it up
on the run. I
wish her well
and would
absolutely love
to see her win
again. She is
definitely one
of my favourite
people to be
around. Heather
you rule and in
case I don't see
you - GO! GO!
GO!
I also had a
quick chat with
Graham Fraser
who stopped to
say hello while
running down
Alii Drive. I
really hope
everything works
out for him and
his amazing
organization. I
haven't gotten
any more gossip
and I don't want
to go there
either. I think
it is serious
stuff. Anyway,
I am on Graham's
side! My first
triathlon race
was Graham's
Fraser's Royal
Lepage Canada
Triathlon Series
at Mont.
Habitant. It
was an amazing
event with a
great party
afterwards. I
did that first
race and was
hooked with the
sport. I
wouldn't have
become a
tri-geek had it
not been for
Graham. Ironman
Canada is by far
my favourite in
the sport!
Graham let me
know how I can
help.
After the little
Lava Java hang
out we went to
check out the
ART tent. I
have been
battling this
run injury for
more than 6
months; so, why
not see the best
practitioners to
try and figure
this thing out.
The next thing
you know Dr.
Mike Leahy is
working on me -
he is ART! He
created it. As
he was working
on me there was
a crowd of 15
ART
practitioners
watching him
work on me. I
definitely got
spoiled today.
After getting
spoiled I ran
into Joanna
Zeiger. For the
first time, she
looks calm and
relaxed. She is
now my dark
horse to win. I
have never seen
her look so
confident.
It is going to
be an
interesting race
this year.
Peter Han is at
the expo all day
selling the DVD
at the
Triathlete
booth. He
should be pretty
tired by the
time he gets
back to the
house.
Off for a swim
and some gigs at
the local bike
shop then Oakley
shop.
Mahalo.
