October 17,
2006:
We are back in
the same house
as last year.
Renting a house
is the way to go
in Kona if you
are more than 2
people. It is
basically the
same price as a
condo; but in
quiet
neighborhoods
compared to the
chaos of the
rental condo
complexes.
Clint was going
on last night
how his room had
some signs of
the earthquake
because there
were some cracks
in the lamp by
his bed. (Webguy
note: I think it
is Clint that is
cracked) I
am pretty sure
that the lamp
was cracked last
year... We felt
some little
tremors last
night and this
morning; but,
nothing
alarming.
We ran on Alii
Drive this
morning and
there was no
sign on any
earthquake
damage. I am
curious to check
out parts of the
bike course.
There have been
some rumours
that some of the
bridges close to
Kawaihae are
somewhat
questionable.
Once again I am
think it is just
reporting
getting a little
exaggerated.
WTC will do a
great job for
the athletes and
no one should
have anything to
worry about when
the gun goes off
Saturday
morning.
We hung out at
the morning hot
spot - Lava
Java. Saw a few
of the wannabe
rock star
pros. Some
people like
myself would
stay as low key
as possible race
week while some
others like to
prance around
and have the
world look at
them. We saw
the prancers
this morning -
not my thing.
Tomorrow I want
to run in the
Energy Lab and I
am sure I will
cross paths with
a few of the low
key pros - I
will wish them
luck.
Peter
Han the honcho
behind What It
Takes is staying
with us. He is
on a mission to
make the movie a
success. Check
out the pictures
of Peter working
- these were
taken over a
four hour
period. (Webguy
note again: Will
get them up
later
tonight) It took
some work to get
him out for a
run; but, now he
is back to his
familiar pose.
As Clint
mentioned this
morning - we are
on vacation and
being on
vacation means
we can do
whatever we
want.
I am still
trying to find
out about the
gossip
surrounding the
WTC and Ironman
North America
rift. Very
interesting.
