October 18,
2002:
I am so full! I always eat a huge breakfast
the day before an Ironman. I feel gross. My
body is holding a ton of water and I feel
sluggish. The good news is that this is the way
I am supposed to feel.
I did the same thing as yesterday. Ran to the
pier, short 20-minute swim with some
accelerations and then run back home. The ocean
was a lot calmer today compared to yesterday.
Hope it is the same way tomorrow morning. I
have a lot of trouble in choppy water; yet, a
love harsh winds on the bike. I need the wind
to build up after the swim.
Shaved my legs and arms after breakfast. I am
now just hanging out in the condo until 3 PM.
At 3 o’clock I am going to ride my bike to the
pier and then check it in. I have number 18
this year. It will feel weird not to rack my
bike close to the front. Since 1997 my bike
number has been No.1, No.2, or No.4. I am going
to jog back easy from the Pier then eat a small
pasta diner at around 5 PM. The day before
Ironman is typically an extremely boring day.
Wish me luck!
