Day Fourteen

It’s Wild - somewhere.

Woke today feeling a bit glum.  As I slowly became sentient the first thing to tap one of my senses was the pain in my Achilles.  I desperately wanted to keep up my running but I knew today would not be a run day.

The next bullet of thought to enter my brain was all my friends at Wildflower who would be just bedding down before their big day - and I wasn’t there.

I went on-line and did my best to try to find some kind of a feed for the race but there was nothing.

After a few hours of writing I walked down to the gym and sat on the bike for an hour.  My guy was back again and he smiled broadly to see me walk in.  That cheered me a bit.  Today I kept my Thumps off my head and instead talked to him while spinning.  He was most interested to hear about my home and was shocked to learn I wasn’t married and didn’t have any children.  When I told him I was an only child he was gobsmacked.  As surprised as he was to hear about my life I was just as interested to hear about his.  His name, phonetically sounded something like Ballo.  He was thirty three years old and both of his parents had “expired”.  He had three younger sisters and two younger brothers.  I asked him if he was married and he told me his wedding was planned for the following month and he was most excited with the prospect.  He would have liked to get married sooner but it was his responsibility to arrange the marriages for all his siblings before he tending to his own needs.  His final sister was to be married the following week.

Now that, my friends, is a different way to live.

Had a good workout.

Later in the evening DJ and I had a little impromptu chat about the script that had me feeling good about the direction of things, then spent the rest of the evening pulling my hair out over Wildflower.  Had a bad moment at one point while I was searching for any kind of results when I saw one of the girls I was looking for logging onto Skype about the time she should have been coming out of the lake!

Turned out it was her husband looking to see if I knew anything.  He wasn’t able to join her at the race and was going through the same thing I was.

Had a moment of excitement when I received an email from a buddy who was down there with his girlfriend racing but his abilities to get me any kind of splits on how anyone was doing were limited to the point of nothing.

I went to bed feeling anxious.
